Published by
Jason Stomps (Hillsdale) capped off an impressivde season with another new personal best of 21.55m. Stomps, who has now surpassed 21 meters four times this year, was actually in second place entering finals behind Drew Frizzell (Central Missouri). Frizell first three throws were all better than his personal best and his third throw measured 21.34m. However, his fourth attempt sailed out of 70-feet and secured the win. Mike Jeffery (Ashland) also moved from fifth place to second place in the fourth round with a three foot PR of 21.45m. Aaron Falk (Hillsdale), who was one of two athlete to surpass 21 meters before this weekend, placed fourth. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time ever three athletes have surpassead 21-meters at the Division II championships. Amanda Madden (Northern State) was the surprise women's winner. Madden entered the competition ranked eight and had a personal best of just 18.20m. Her fifth round throw measured 19.81m, adding over five feet to her PR. She also had two other throwers over 19 meters. Tara Cooper (Ashland) threw a 1cm season best for second place. Season leader Liz Murphy struggled with foul trouble and took third place.
