NCAA DII National Rankings Hold Steady Ahead of Conference Meets - USTFCCCAPublished by
NEW ORLEANS – With the final weekend of competition in NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field’s regular season upon us, the races for the national team titles remain much the same – for now.
Ahead of conference championships weekend, Adams State’s men and Hillsdale’s women remained atop the National Team Computer Rankings announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The National Team Computer Rankings are a projection of how teams might fare at the March 11-12 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, and are not indicative of how teams could perform at smaller conference championship meets. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for the rankings.
While the defending national men’s champion Grizzlies with 222.36 points and the Chargers with 145.08 maintain healthy leads in their respective rankings, their challengers are lining up in clusters behind them. For the men, GLIAC rivals No. 2 Grand Valley State (158.04) and No. 3 Tiffin (156.43) both moved up one spot each to leapfrog multiple-time defending outdoor national champ No. 4 Saint Augustine’s (154.47). National Athlete of the Week Jeron Robinson helped boost Texas A&M-Kingsville (121.20) up two spots to No. 5. Like their male teammates, the Grand Valley State women (124.90) also moved up to No. 2 behind their GLIAC rivals, whilePittsburg State (121.65) checked in just behind at No. 3 with a one-spot advance. No. 4 Lewis (111.06) jumped two spots from a week ago, whileAlaska Anchorage (110.91) remained steady at No. 5. Notably, Minnesota Duluth jumped up seven spots to No. 8 for the program’s second-ever single-digit rank. Three top-25 women’s teams made double-digit advances in No. 13Seattle Pacific (up 10), No. 16 Texas A&M-Kingsville (up 13), and No. 25 Azusa Pacific (up 11). No means team made a bigger move than the eight-spot jump by No. 15 West Texas A&M.
